Combustion is accomplished in two stages: (1) drying and gasification, and (2) combustion of gaseous products. The first stage takes place in the primary furnace, which is separated from the secondary furnace chamber by a bridge wall. Combustion is completed in the secondary chamber before gases enter the boiler section.
