Jan 08, 2018 · We want to change our boiler. The new boiler is taller so the new flue has to go through the wall higher up. The old boiler flue hole was cut with a chisel into four bricks 20 years ago. Wondering if it is safe to take out the old bricks and replace with four new bricks to fill the old flue hole. The hole is in the gable end of a two story house.
The flue for my boiler has a large hole around it, presumably from when it was put in. I'd like to fill it in because it's unsightly, but in not sure of the best way to do it, as it's a large hole and near a boiler.
