PG-61.3 For boilers having a water-heating surface of more than 100 ft2 (9.3 m2), the feed water connection to the boiler shall not be less than NPS ¾ (DN 20). For boilers having a water-heating surface of 100 ft2 (9.3 m2) or less, the feed water connection to the boiler shall be not less than NPS ½ (DN 15).
(Refer to § 56.07-10 (b) for specific requirements.) Feed piping from the boiler, to and including the required stop and stop-check valves (see paragraph (b) of this section), shall have a design pressure which exceeds the maximum allowable working pressure of the boiler by either 25 percent or 225 pounds per square inch whichever is less.
As a rule of thumb, about 1000 ppm can be considered a safe maximum. A hard water containing 200 ppm in the feedwater would tolerate five concentrations in the boiler (200 times 5 = 1000). On the other hand, a soft water with 25 ppm could be concentrated 40 times before reaching the critical point (40 times 25 = 1000).
At a minimum, boiler feedwater must be softened water for low pressure boilers and demineralized water for high pressure boilers. It must be free of oxygen and essentially free of hardness constituents and suspended solids. Recommended feedwater limits are shown in Table 1.

What is Normal Boiler Pressure and Where to Check Boiler Pressure? | How to Set Boiler Pressure. Normal boiler pressure should be around 12 PSI. There are some boiler systems that are slightly higher. To determine the proper pressure for the boiler …
May 05, 2018 · Requirements for the Boiler Feed Water of Steam Boilers: * According to EN 12953-10, an oxygen concentration of < 0.05 mg/L is allowed in the boiler feed water of shell boilers with an operating pressure ≤ 20 bar, thus differing from the above requirements.
